Mayonaka Hour: City Pop Podcast

Mayonaka Hour is a City Pop Podcast dedicated to everything City Pop related from vintage aesthetics to South Koreans. We will be discussing iconic Japanese musicians like Tatsuro Yamashita, Mariya Takeuchi, and Minako Yoshida. We review legendary albums like After 5 Clash, MAGICAL, and Adventure. My Co-Host, Grammy-nominated producer, musician, and DJ, Yuki Tasaka will give us a deep dive on the City Pop style, and I give the western perspective on why City Pop is so beloved by non-Japanese.

Each episode of the podcast we review an icon, their discography, our favorite album and song from them, and also discuss contemporary topics related to City Pop. We'll investigate the love triangle between 3 of the most famous City Pop Artists, who was Yukiko Okada, and why Meiko Nakahara quit among other things. Our ending theme is by our wonderful friend and talented singer Mika Bridgebook who we've both worked with and greatly appreciate. She also contributed music to the classic anime Captain Harlock under the name TIA.
